Twas the night before Christmas, oops, sorry wrong date! Twas Idgy's birthday. My girl enjoyed her day and even started it in our traditional style.
Yes it was prezzie opening on the bottom of my bed. Oh how I will miss this ritual when she grows out of it and thinks unwrapping boxes on a bed is silly.
Even her furry friend has to get into the act.
Now the evening's entertainment is supper at a local restaurant and a trip to see the lovely Mr Depp in the latest Pirate of the Caribbean block buster.
Please note that the large inflatable monkey is no ordinary guest, this is Jack-E, who was originally meant to be Jack the monkey from the film.
The day before Idgy and I had spotted the monkey balloons when we were getting some party bits and pieces in town. How cool, a huge blow up monkey wearing shorts and shades. Idgy loved it. Alas Tigger the car didn't. There was just no way that both Idgy and I could get into the car and have Jack in there too. There was a mad moment when we did try, three faces pressed against the windscreen, one grinning maniacally, the other two falling about laughing. Back into the shop and hand back Jack, can we have a deflated one please. No problem. We leave the shop armed with a somewhat subdued (well let's be honest he was flat) Jack the monkey and head off to the restaurant to drop off him and cake (do you like my sunflowers?) and other party bits.
Keen eyed readers may have noticed that the monkey in the photos is somewhat more ladylike (or is Jack just a cross dresser?) than I have been describing. I ask the waiter what happened to Jack. "Oh dear, we hoped you wouldn't notice, he exploded when we tried to inflate him" explained the waiter somewhat sheepishly.
So we end up a merry group at our booth with Jack-E the monkeyess, loads of food, too much cake and lots of girly laughter.
On to the cinema and two hours of swashbuckling madness, 3D adventure and dear Mr Depp at his most aluring and dramatic. What can I say, another exhausting evening in the company of the joyous Johnny.
We note that Jack the monkey has a very small part in this film, you only see him about twice and each time as part of a ship in a bottle scene. Never mind we've brought our own. See us in the back row with giant inflatable monkey. Okay so it has had a sex change and wears dodgy lipstick, but hey ho, what the hell, we are girls on a mission - sheer enjoyment.
Twas Idgy's birthday.....
