The best laid plans of mice, men and all sorts inbetween. You just know something is going to go wrong when I feel just the teeniest bit confident about a plan don't you.
My colours are red and white, and I mean EVERYTHING is red and white with a touch of festive greenery. The whole stand was to be red. Please note the word 'was' in this scenario. I have my Laura Ashley raspberry paint to hand, same as I used at the Harrogate show. Roller is ready. Is there a problem. ermmm yes, Carrie just told me on Saturday that we can't paint our stands at this fair as they are basic shell schemes. 'Didn't you read the blurb Karon', now come on what do you take me for, sensible.
I will admit to just a touch of panic at this point. I had so wanted the whole stand to be Christmassy red with all the red and white goodies on it. My colour scheme was fading fast. Enter the voice of hope, Idgy. "Why not use the livingroom curtains Mum" says the clever eleven year old as us crocks sit there in confusion and despair. Well why the hell not. My living room is now looking just a tad bald and a good deal colder without its cozy red velvet curtains. Will this cunning plan work? Wait till Wednesday when I go to Newcastle and set it all up. I have a horrible feeling that there will be much tangling in the curtains, yards and yards of heavy velvet and no escape route........
This is all the packing and display boxes. I have a small stand so everything has to do double duty, pack and show. When I think of the lengths I have gone to with fancy displays for the fairs. This time I am pared down to the bare minimum - fold out decorating table with red cloth on top and fold up tiny table with box on top for extra height and covered with same red cloth. Green twiggy heart to hang the Christmas decorations from and a poster.
Today is finishing off day. Finding things day. Panicking day.
Tomorrow I will try to stuff it all into the car. Remember those kids toys for toddlers, square peg and round hole? Oh yes, stuffing it all into the car is going to be SO much fun.....
Have a nice day whatever you're up to.

Good luck Karon - will look out for you if I get the chance to go.
